Ekiti State government has given the green light for the disbursement of N546.9 million to cover the expenses of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for all 16,269 students enrolled in public secondary schools across the state.
This decision was communicated by the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Bimpe Aderiye, during a recent press conference held in the state’s capital, Ado Ekiti.
Dr. Aderiye underscored that public secondary schools within Ekiti State are strictly prohibited from requesting any form of registration fees from students for the upcoming WASSCE.
She issued a stern warning, stating that any attempt by school officials to contravene this directive by demanding fees would be viewed as an act of sabotage.
Furthermore, Dr. Aderiye urged parents and guardians to refrain from making any unauthorized payments related to the examination, as such actions undermine government policies and impede efforts aimed at enhancing the socioeconomic well-being of the populace.
