The government of Katsina State has taken decisive action by closing down three filling stations suspected of providing petrol to bandits within the state.
This move comes as part of the efforts led by the task force on hoarding of grains and unjustified price hikes of food items.
Chairing the task force, Jabiru Salisu Tsauri, who also serves as the Chief of Staff to the governor, stated to the press that the committee is empowered to apprehend suspected individuals and detain them for up to 48 hours before initiating legal proceedings against them.
The committee received intelligence indicating that the affected petrol stations were allegedly involved in supplying fuel to bandits during the cover of night and early morning hours.
This revelation underscores the gravity of the situation and the need for swift action to address such activities.
In response, one of the affected businessmen denied the accusations, emphasizing that their operations are conducted with utmost care and adherence to legal standards, and they would never engage in actions that could compromise the security of the state.
