Stakeholders within the All Progressives Congress (APC) have emphasized the importance of granting the party’s governorship ticket to former Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, citing his transformative impact on the state.
Representing these stakeholders, APC stalwart Oluwaseyi Bamigbade highlighted Ambode’s four-year tenure, which he described as witnessing significant infrastructural development in the state.
This call coincides with Muslims in Lagos State expressing their desire for one of their own to assume the governorship in 2027, as revealed by the Islamic human rights organization, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC).
Bamigbade noted that various groups consistently advocate for Ambode’s return in 2027 to continue his developmental l for Lagos, believing he deserves a second term in office as permitted by the constitution.
Bamigbade praised Ambode’s achievements during his previous term, stating that within four years, he transformed Lagos into an investment hub, attracting major businesses nationally and internationally.
He emphasized Ambode’s impact on the lives of millions of Lagosians, suggesting that his tenure felt longer due to the extensive progress made.
During his term, Ambode implemented a paradigm shift by extending the government’s reach from urban centers to suburbs, improving infrastructure and connectivity.
His initiatives in health and education also reached the suburbs, providing free and quality education to children, particularly emphasizing science and technology.
Bamigbade highlighted Ambode’s establishment of the Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Agency, which collaborates with federal police and other security agencies to ensure the safety of Lagosians.
He praised the agency as a model for community policing, noting that other states have begun replicating it in response to prevailing security challenges.
