Yoruba Man Employed By Ezeife Now Perm Sec In Anambra – Soludo Speaks On Late Okwadike’s Legacy

During a commendation service held in Awka to honor the late former governor of Anambra State, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Governor Chukwuma Soludo praised him for his legacy of patriotism, fairness, and equity.

Dr. Ezeife, fondly called “Okwadike,” served as Anambra State governor from January 2, 1992, to November 1993, during the aborted Third Republic. He passed away on December 14, 2023, at the age of 85.

Governor Soludo highlighted Dr. Ezeife’s principles and values, stating that he was a man of great integrity.

He pointed out an instance during Ezeife’s tenure when he employed a Yoruba man from Osun State, Adebayo, into the Anambra civil service.

Governor Soludo noted that under his own administration, Adebayo has been promoted to the position of Permanent Secretary in Anambra State.

This, Soludo emphasized, was a testament to Dr. Ezeife’s vision of a Nigeria where tribal differences don’t matter, and everyone is free to live and work anywhere in the country.

Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, also lauded Dr. Ezeife’s contributions, referring to him as the “hero” of Igbo land. He highlighted Ezeife’s service to Ohanaeze Ndigbo in various capacities and his efforts toward the well-being of the people of the South-East geopolitical zone.

Former governors Peter Obi, Senator Chris Ngige, Okwesilieze Nwodo of Enugu State, and former Anambra deputy governor, Dame Virgy Etiaba, all echoed similar sentiments, describing Dr. Ezeife as a nationalist who fought for justice and equity for all Nigerians regardless of tribe, religion, or political affiliation.

Senator Chris Ngige emphasized Dr. Ezeife’s role in championing unity and fairness, especially within the Igbo community, while Peter Obi stressed the importance of fighting against injustice, a cause Dr. Ezeife dedicated his life to.
