In a historic gesture of recognition and honour, the traditional rulers of Anambra State on Thursday bestowed a prestigious chieftaincy title on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The President was conferred with the title ‘Dike Si Mba of Anambra’, which translates to “Hero from Another Land.”
The conferment took place in Awka during President Tinubu’s official visit to Anambra, and was led by the Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Chidubem Iweka of Obosi. The title was jointly endorsed by traditional rulers from across the 179 communities that make up the state, representing a unified voice of honour and appreciation from the custodians of Anambra’s cultural heritage.
President Tinubu arrived in the state at 12:15 pm, landing at the Chinua Achebe International Airport in Umueri. He was warmly received by Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, Deputy Governor Dr Onyeka Ibezim, and other senior government officials, signifying the importance of his visit to the state and the South-East region.
A highlight of the visit was the formal commissioning of Anambra State’s first-ever Government House, a historic feat accomplished over three decades after the state’s creation in 1991. The inauguration of the Government House marks a major milestone in the administrative development of Anambra State, signifying stability, progress, and a new era of governance under the Soludo-led administration.
In addition to the Government House, President Tinubu also commissioned a number of landmark projects initiated and completed by Governor Soludo’s administration. These projects, covering critical sectors such as infrastructure, health, and education, reflect the governor’s drive for transformational development and his commitment to delivering good governance.
This visit marks President Tinubu’s second official tour of the South-East in 2025, having earlier visited Enugu State in January. The conferment of the title “Dike Si Mba” not only underscores the respect accorded to him by the traditional institutions of Anambra but also symbolizes a message of unity and mutual recognition between the federal leadership and the people of the South-East.
