NAPTIP Rescues 2-Year-Old Trafficked Girl in Aba

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has confirmed the rescue of a two-year-old girl who was trafficked from Abuja to Aba earlier this year.

According to a statement released on Friday, May 9, 2025, the child—given the alias Chiamaka Favor for protection—was trafficked in February 2025 and was rescued by the NAPTIP Abia State Command on May 8, 2025.

The rescue followed the arrest of a suspect by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abia, who was subsequently handed over to NAPTIP for further investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that the suspect collaborated with three separate trafficking syndicates operating from Abuja and allegedly sold the child to a buyer for ₦100,000.

NAPTIP has launched a full-scale investigation into the matter and is working to dismantle the involved trafficking networks.

The agency is now urgently appealing to the public, especially the biological parents or relatives of the child, to come forward and contact NAPTIP for further identification and reunification processes.
