BREAKING: Awka South Political Titan And Philanthropist Chief Chukwuemeka Orjiakor Endorses Governor Soludo For Second Term

In a significant political development in Anambra, prominent philanthropist and respected political stakeholder in Awka South Local Government Area, Chief Chukwuemeka Nkem Pat Orjiakor (popularly known as Onwa Nibo), has formally declared his support for Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s second term bid.

The public endorsement, which took place on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Umuonyima Hall, Uruana Nibo, Awka South, was witnessed by newsmen and a host of influential community figures. It marks a major milestone for Governor Soludo’s reelection campaign, especially given Chief Orjiakor’s deep-rooted influence in Awka South politics.

Speaking at the event, Chief Orjiakor commended Governor Soludo for his transformational leadership and the extensive development projects executed across the state. He asserted that the governor has more than earned the right to continue in office, citing his track record of achievements as both impressive and unprecedented.

“One good turn,” he stated, “deserves another. Governor Soludo has given Ndi Anambra a good turn, and for that, he deserves another four years to complete his good work.”

Highlighting key milestones of the Soludo administration, Chief Orjiakor emphasized the governor’s interventions in several critical sectors. He pointed to the revitalization of the long-neglected tourism sector, particularly the commissioning of the Fun City project, which has added vibrancy and recreational value to the state. He also referenced the newly constructed ultra-modern Government House, a historic first in Anambra’s over 30 years of statehood.

“In terms of infrastructure,” he continued, “over 700 kilometers of roads are currently under construction with over 500 kilometers completed, which Awka North and South are among the major beneficiaries. In healthcare, the governor is building five general hospitals, recruited over a thousand healthcare professionals, and revitalized Primary Health Care Centres across the state. The Water Corporation has also been revived, bringing clean pipe-borne water even to the most remote communities.”

Chief Orjiakor also praised Soludo’s bold intervention in Okpoko, the largest urban slum in the South-East, noting that its transformation is a clear testament to the governor’s commitment to urban renewal.

On education and social welfare, he highlighted the introduction of Free Education, which now provides access to quality learning for children from the poorest backgrounds. He further mentioned the governor’s groundbreaking free antenatal and delivery program, including Cesarean Section, for all pregnant women in the state, describing it as a reflection of his compassion and people-centered governance.

Concluding his remarks, Chief Orjiakor said, “Only someone who fails to appreciate good things will claim that Governor Soludo does not deserve a second term. His achievements are visible and impactful. We are fully behind him and are committed to ensuring that he returns to complete the great work he has started.”

The endorsement event attracted several notable personalities, including Engr. Raphael Umeadi (former Deputy President General, Nibo Union), Deacon Bertram Anene (Chairman, Nibo Cultural Committee), Ozo Jerome Ugoagu, and many others.

In a final show of commitment, Chief Orjiakor pledged to offer financial support to any legitimate campaign or initiative working toward the actualization of Governor Soludo’s second term, reinforcing his dedication to seeing the administration continue its legacy of progressive governance in Anambra State.
