Abubakar Malami, the immediate past Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, has called on his supporters in Kebbi State to refrain from making inflammatory political remarks that could escalate tensions in the state.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media, Mohammed Doka, Malami expressed concern over the increasing trend of political jabs and mockery directed at opponents, particularly through the use of musicians, influencers, and vocal political allies. He emphasized that such actions are not only inappropriate but also pose a threat to the unity and democratic fabric of the nation.
“I want to appeal to our teeming supporters to focus on issue-based communication when engaging the public,” the statement read. “Their contributions should be constructive and not aimed at undermining our democracy or the peace we enjoy in Nigeria.”
Doka further described Malami as a peace-loving and law-abiding individual, asserting that the former attorney general would never endorse or support any activity or rhetoric capable of disturbing public peace in Kebbi.
Despite recent speculations about his political affiliations, Malami has publicly denied joining any other political party. He remains a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and has yet to make any formal declaration regarding contesting for a political position in the state.
