The Kano State Government has issued a stern warning to unruly youths involved in violent activities, urging them to desist from endangering the peace and safety of communities across the state or risk facing the full weight of the law.
This warning was delivered by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Special Services, Air Vice Marshal Ibrahim Umar (Retired), during a visit to Kurna Tudun Fulani, one of the most security-challenged areas in Dala Local Government Area. The commissioner was accompanied by directors and security personnel to assess the situation and engage with community leaders.
According to a statement released by the Director of Public Relations and Enlightenment, Muhammad Dahir, the visit was prompted by a security alert indicating that certain misguided youths have been causing unrest in the area. These violent incidents have led to significant loss of property and the tragic deaths of several innocent residents.
The statement noted that the commissioner expressed deep concern over a recent clash among youth groups that resulted in the death of a young man identified as Abba Sa’idu Mai Hula. He condemned the violence and emphasized that the state government, under Governor Abba Kabiru Yusuf’s administration, is making deliberate efforts to tackle youth unemployment by providing skills acquisition training. These initiatives aim to empower young people, helping them become self-sufficient and productive members of society.
Air Vice Marshal Umar (Retired) stressed that maintaining security is a collective responsibility. He urged every household in Kurna Tudun Fulani and other communities to cooperate with security agencies by remaining vigilant and reporting suspicious individuals or activities that could pose threats to public safety.
During the visit, the ward head of Kurna Tudun Fulani, Malam Usaini Ibrahim Tudun Fulani, appealed to the government for urgent intervention. He proposed that a nearby plot of land currently being used as a refuse dump be converted into a police outpost. According to him, the presence of a security base within the area would significantly enhance surveillance and improve the overall security situation.
The commissioner and his team were taken around the proposed site by local elders, under the guidance of the ward head. In response, the commissioner assured the community that he would relay the suggestion to the state government and advise on the feasibility of establishing a police outpost on the site.
The visit underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening community security and curbing the rising tide of youth violence in the state.
