The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has refuted widespread claims suggesting that the recent explosion that occurred on Monday in the Nyanya area of Abuja was a suicide bombing.
While speaking during a project inspection tour in Abuja on Wednesday, Wike clarified that there was no act of terrorism involved in the incident. According to him, investigations revealed that the explosion was caused by an individual who unknowingly transported an explosive device from a quarry site. The device detonated while in the person’s possession, leading to the tragic incident.
The Minister emphasized the importance of public awareness and proper handling of potentially hazardous materials, especially in areas where construction and quarrying activities are ongoing.
