As Muslims in Katsina State and around the world prepare to mark Eid al-Adha, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has issued a heartfelt message urging citizens to embrace the festival’s values of faith, sacrifice, unity, and prayer, especially in light of ongoing security challenges facing the state.
In a statement released ahead of the Islamic celebration, Governor Radda highlighted the deep spiritual significance of Eid al-Adha, describing it as a moment anchored in devotion to Allah, personal sacrifice, and compassion for others. He called on the Muslim faithful to reflect sincerely on the meaning of the season and to dedicate their prayers to the peace, security, and overall development of Katsina State and Nigeria at large.
Governor Radda made a special appeal to pilgrims observing the sacred Arafat rites in Saudi Arabia, urging them to remember Katsina in their prayers — particularly calling for divine intervention to end insecurity and strengthen unity among the people. He also encouraged those fasting back home to use the spiritual opportunity to pray for lasting peace and prosperity.
Acknowledging the onset of the rainy season, the Governor offered prayers for sufficient rainfall and a bountiful harvest. He reminded citizens of the state’s agricultural strength and encouraged farmers and entrepreneurs to take full advantage of various empowerment programs under his “Building Your Future” development agenda, which is designed to boost productivity and improve livelihoods.
Reflecting on his two years in office, Governor Radda shared that his administration has recorded significant progress in key sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, security, and infrastructure. However, he emphasized that more work remains to be done and reaffirmed his commitment to delivering development to every corner of the state.
“We’ve made progress… but we are not stopping. We want to do more for every part of the state and for every citizen,” he stated, pledging sustained efforts toward growth and inclusiveness.
Governor Radda also stressed the importance of collective responsibility in securing and developing Katsina. He called on citizens to actively protect public infrastructure, support grassroots initiatives, and collaborate with the government to foster a safer, more prosperous environment.
In expressing his gratitude to the security forces, including the armed forces and the Katsina Community Watch Corps, the Governor praised their courage and dedication in the fight against insecurity. He assured them of the government’s unwavering support and continuous prayers for their success.
Admitting that challenges still persist, Governor Radda concluded by acknowledging the limits of individual effort and the necessity for collective will.
“I cannot do it alone. We all have a role to play. With unity, hard work, and Allah’s mercy, we will overcome every challenge,” he declared, calling for sustained prayer, unity, and active community participation as the state charts its path toward peace and development.
