Man Jumps Into Well After Eid Prayers Under Influence of ‘Colorado’ in Ilorin

In a tragic incident that occurred in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, a young man identified as Kazeem lost his life after reportedly jumping into a well under the influence of a hard drug known locally as ‘Colos’ (Colorado). The event took place shortly after Kazeem returned from Eid prayers on Friday morning.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, the service received a distress call at approximately 10:29 a.m., alerting them that an individual had fallen into a well. Firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene and successfully recovered the body of the victim from the well.

Initial investigations revealed that Kazeem had allegedly consumed the potent substance before making the fatal jump. His body was subsequently handed over to Inspector Babatunde Amos of the C Division Police Station in Ilorin. Authorities are currently awaiting formal identification and a claim of the body by the victim’s family.

The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, expressed profound sorrow over the incident. He took the opportunity to urge members of the public, particularly the youth, to avoid drug abuse. According to him, indulgence in hard substances like ‘Colorado’ often leads to devastating and irreversible consequences.

This incident has once again highlighted the growing concern over substance abuse in the region and its increasingly tragic impact on young lives.
