Chief Chukwuemeka Orjiakor Sends Democracy Day Message, Commends Governor Soludo’s Commitment to Democratic Governance

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Stelconic Properties Limited, Chief Chukwuemeka Nkem Pat Orjiakor, has called on Nigerian leaders at all levels to uphold and practice the true spirit of democracy.

In a statement issued on Thursday, June 12, to mark Nigeria’s Democracy Day, Chief Orjiakor expressed deep concern over the growing trend of suppressing opposition voices across the country. He emphasized that democracy thrives only when freedom of expression, tolerance of dissenting opinions, and the sanctity of the ballot are respected and protected.

“Democracy is not just about elections,” Orjiakor stated. “It is about creating a system where opposition parties can freely express their views, and every citizen’s vote counts equally. When we silence criticism and stifle alternative voices, we undermine the very foundation of democratic governance.”

Chief Orjiakor also urged political leaders to focus on delivering tangible dividends of democracy to the people, especially the underprivileged and marginalized citizens. He reminded stakeholders that the core essence of democracy is to give the common man a voice and a stake in governance.

While reflecting on the state of democratic practices in Nigeria, Chief Orjiakor took time to commend Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State for his unwavering efforts to entrench democratic ideals within the state.

He particularly hailed the Governor’s recent resolve to conduct Local Government Elections, the first in nearly a decade in Anambra, as a bold and commendable step toward grassroots participation in governance.

“Governor Soludo’s decision to hold Local Government Elections for the first time in almost 10 years demonstrates his firm belief in inclusive governance and the importance of empowering communities at the grassroots level,” Orjiakor said.

He further called on Ndi Anambra, both at home and in the diaspora, to rally behind Governor Soludo in his quest for a second term in office. According to Chief Orjiakor, the Governor has proven himself as a visionary leader with the capacity and integrity to deliver lasting development and deepen democratic culture in the state.

It is worth recalling that in May 2025, Chief Chukwuemeka Orjiakor publicly endorsed Governor Soludo for a second term during a major political event held in Awka South, which witnessed a massive turnout of stakeholders, supporters, and dignitaries.

As Nigeria marks another year under democratic rule, Chief Orjiakor’s Democracy Day message serves as a clarion call for reflection, action, and a renewed commitment to the democratic values of justice, equity, transparency, and accountability.
