On Sunday, U.S. President Donald Trump instructed federal agencies to intensify deportation operations specifically targeting Democratic-led cities, marking a renewed push in his hardline immigration agenda. The directive came on the heels of widespread protests in Los Angeles following recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids.
Taking to his Truth Social platform, Trump stated, “We must expand efforts to detain and deport Illegal Aliens in America’s largest Cities, such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, where Millions upon Millions of Illegal Aliens reside.” He claimed these cities represent the strongholds of Democratic political influence and reiterated widely discredited conspiracy theories suggesting undocumented immigrants are voting in U.S. elections in large numbers.
Immigration enforcement has become a centerpiece of Trump’s campaign for a second term, as he continues to frame undocumented immigration as a national crisis. He previously described the influx of migrants as an “invasion” and has now declared a mission to carry out what he calls “the single largest Mass Deportation Program in History.”
ICE operations in Los Angeles led to a wave of intense protests, prompting Trump to deploy 4,000 National Guard troops and 700 U.S. Marines to the city — a move that was made without the consent of California’s state or local governments. In response, California authorities filed a lawsuit to challenge the federal deployment, arguing the president had exceeded his constitutional authority. The case is currently being reviewed in federal court.
In a lengthy and incendiary message on Truth Social, Trump accused ICE agents of being targets of “violence, harassment, and even threats from Radical Democrat Politicians.” He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the deportation campaign, saying ICE officers are ordered “to do all in their power” to fulfill this mission.
Trump also launched a barrage of attacks against Democratic leaders, accusing them of destroying America’s inner cities and promoting policies he deems extreme. “Radical Left Democrats are sick of mind, hate our Country, and actually want to destroy our Inner Cities — And they are doing a good job of it!” he wrote, criticizing their support for open borders, transgender rights, and gender inclusion in sports.
Emphasizing a focus on urban crime, he instructed ICE and other federal agencies to concentrate their efforts on what he described as “crime ridden and deadly Inner Cities.” He claimed undocumented migration had transformed formerly peaceful towns into “scenes of Third World Dystopia.”
Trump concluded with a message of solidarity to federal law enforcement, writing: “To ICE, FBI, DEA, ATF, the Patriots at Pentagon and the State Department, you have my unwavering support. Now go, GET THE JOB DONE!”
