Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has strongly denounced the brutal killing of twelve Kaduna indigenes in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. The victims, who were reportedly on their way to attend a wedding ceremony in Quan Pan LGA, were ambushed and murdered in the troubled Mangun District. The violent attack also left eleven others seriously injured.
In a strongly worded statement released on Saturday, June 21, 2025, Governor Sani described the incident as “an act of savagery” and called for immediate and decisive action by security agencies to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators.
“We condemn in the strongest terms these acts of savagery. The criminals must be fished out and dealt with accordingly. Security agencies must leave no stone unturned in their quest to apprehend the perpetrators,” the governor stated.
Governor Sani further urged Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, to take decisive leadership in restoring law and order in the affected communities. He emphasized the need for Governor Mutfwang to direct security agencies under his jurisdiction to swiftly track down and bring the attackers to justice.
“This is the time for Governor Mutfwang to take full charge and direct the operations of the security agencies until the murderers are brought to justice. I will personally follow up on the progress of the investigations,” he pledged.
Appealing to citizens of Kaduna State to remain calm in the face of this tragedy, Governor Sani reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to peace-building efforts. He highlighted the “Kaduna Peace Model” as an example of how political commitment and dialogue can be used to effectively manage and resolve conflict.
“The Plateau crisis is not insurmountable. There is no justification for anybody to attack any citizen of Nigeria in any part of the country. Enough is enough,” Governor Sani declared.
He also extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and assured them of comprehensive government support. This includes medical treatment for the injured survivors and a determined pursuit of justice on their behalf.
“We shall do all in our power to lessen the pain of the affected families. May the souls of our departed citizens rest in perfect peace,” he concluded.
In a related development, security operatives have reportedly arrested 22 individuals in connection with the gruesome attack, signaling the beginning of what authorities hope will be a thorough investigation and prosecution process.
