President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in Vieux Fort, Saint Lucia, on Saturday, June 28, 2025, marking the commencement of his official two-nation tour of the Caribbean and South America.
Touching down at exactly 5:30 p.m. local time at Hewanorra International Airport, President Tinubu was received with full military honours. He was warmly welcomed by the Governor-General of Saint Lucia, Mr. Cyril Errol Melchiades Charles, alongside the country’s Prime Minister, Philip J. Pierre.
According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the President’s itinerary in Saint Lucia will begin on Sunday with official courtesy visits to both the Governor-General and the Prime Minister.
As part of his diplomatic engagements, President Tinubu is also scheduled to address a special joint session of Saint Lucia’s Senate and House of Assembly. The address will take place on Monday at the William Jefferson Clinton Ballroom, located in the Sandals Grande resort in Gros Islet.
This state visit to Saint Lucia precedes his participation in the upcoming BRICS summit scheduled to hold in Brazil, where he will represent Nigeria among global emerging economies.
