Yahaya Bello Denies Involvement in APC National Chairmanship Posters

Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has categorically denied any involvement in campaign posters promoting him for the position of National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which recently surfaced in various parts of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

In a statement released on Thursday through his media office in Lokoja, and signed by the office’s Director, Michael Ohiare, the former governor disassociated himself from the posters, describing them as the handiwork of mischief makers intent on dragging his name into political controversy.

Ohiare expressed dismay at widespread reports suggesting that Yahaya Bello had commenced a campaign for the APC chairmanship role, stating that the appearance of the posters was both unauthorized and misleading.

“They (the mischief makers) are at it again, having failed on many fronts in their desperate ‘bring-him-down-at-all-costs’ mission,” Ohiare remarked, adding that the matter would typically have been ignored if not for the repeated attempts to malign Bello’s reputation.

He emphasized that Yahaya Bello’s loyalty to the APC and his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership remain unshaken, and that such political distractions do not reflect the former governor’s current focus or intentions.

“Nothing of this nature could have come from Yahaya Bello, especially considering that the party’s internal procedures are still very much in place,” Ohiare clarified.

This is reportedly not the first instance where campaign materials have been distributed in Bello’s name without his consent. According to the media director, this recurrence has compelled them to publicly set the record straight.

“No individual has been authorized—either directly or indirectly—to print or distribute any campaign poster on behalf of Yahaya Bello,” the statement said.

Ohiare urged members of the public and party faithful to disregard the posters and view them as deliberate attempts to cause unnecessary political distraction and embarrassment to the former governor.
