Nigerians Roll On The Floor In Tears, Overwhelmed With Grief, Sadness As Former President Muhammadu Buhari Dies In London

Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has passed away in London. The news of his death was confirmed on Sunday afternoon by his former aide, Bashir Ahmad, through a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

Ahmad wrote:

“The family of the former president has announced the passing on of the former president, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, this afternoon in a clinic in London.
May Allah accept him in Aljannatul Firdaus. Amin.”

President Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s civilian president from 2015 to 2023, was previously the country’s military Head of State from 1983 to 1985.

The former president was widely known for his strong anti-corruption campaign and policies aimed at stabilizing Nigeria’s economy during his time in office.

Details concerning his burial are expected to be released soon by the family, in line with Islamic funeral rites.
