The body of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari arrived in Nigeria on Monday following his death in London on Sunday. The late president’s remains were transported aboard a special flight that landed on the airport runway at approximately 1:59 p.m.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, and several members of Buhari’s family accompanied the body on its journey back to Nigeria. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was present at the airport alongside members of the late president’s family and other dignitaries to receive the remains.
Following the reception, Buhari’s body was transported to his hometown, Daura, in Katsina State, where preparations had been made for his final burial rites in accordance with Islamic tradition.
