Trump Orders Immediate Relocation of Homeless from U.S. Capital

U.S. President Donald Trump has called for the urgent removal of homeless individuals from Washington, D.C., insisting the action be taken without delay.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump shared photographs showing roadside tents and scattered litter, declaring, “The Homeless have to move out, IMMEDIATELY.” He added that alternative accommodations would be provided but located “far from the Capital.”

Addressing concerns over crime, the president drew a sharp distinction between the homeless and offenders, saying, “The Criminals, you don’t have to move out. We’re going to put you in jail where you belong.”

Trump announced that a press conference on crime prevention and improving cleanliness in the nation’s capital would be held Monday. He vowed to make Washington “safer and more beautiful than it ever was before.”

The U.S. capital, though run by a local mayor and council, remains under significant federal jurisdiction. Trump, a Republican, has often clashed with the city’s Democratic mayor, Muriel Bowser, over governance issues.

Media reports suggest that the federal government is considering deploying hundreds of National Guard troops to enforce Trump’s relocation plans, though no final decision has been confirmed. The president has yet to provide specific details on how the removals will be carried out.

This move follows Trump’s earlier pledge, made two weeks ago, to clear homeless encampments near the White House, a situation he described as “terrible” and in need of immediate action.
