The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members have been charged to take the lead in combating terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, cultism, political thuggery, and other forms of insecurity plaguing the nation.
This charge was delivered by the Northeast Zonal Coordinator of the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW), Major General Abubakar Adamu (Rtd.), during his address at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Bauchi on Tuesday.
Major General Adamu stressed that the active involvement of young people, particularly corps members, in the campaign against the proliferation of small arms and light weapons would play a crucial role in eradicating insecurity across the country. He expressed confidence that with the youth’s participation, the challenges posed by illegal arms, and the crimes they fuel, could be eliminated within a short time.
