Miss Comfort Emmanson, the young woman at the centre of the controversial incident involving an Ibom Air crew member, has shared her account of what transpired.
In a lengthy post on her Instagram page, @soft_commy, Emmanson alleged that a flight attendant, identified as Julian Edwards, assaulted her by pulling off her frontal wig, cutting her gold jewelry, and destroying her mobile phones.
According to her, the confrontation began when she struggled to switch off one of her phones during pre-flight checks and escalated into a physical altercation after the aircraft landed in Lagos.
She narrated that the flight attendant insulted her by calling her a prostitute, blocked her from disembarking, and later attacked her physically, leaving her bruised, embarrassed, and deeply humiliated.
“The incident left me traumatised,” Emmanson said, lamenting that the circulation of videos and private images of her on social media has worsened her distress, with some even using her photos as internet stickers.
Recounting the experience, she said:
> “On August 10, I boarded a flight from Uyo to Lagos. During pre-flight checks, the hostess Juliana asked everyone to switch off their phones. When she came to me, I was struggling with one of my phones that had a faulty power button. She insisted it could still be switched off from the settings, but I pleaded with her to help. A fellow passenger seated beside me assisted in turning off both devices.
> When we landed in Lagos, I went to use the restroom before leaving the aircraft. On my way out, the flight attendant blocked my path and kept glaring at me. Everyone else had already disembarked. I asked her to move aside, but she refused. Out of frustration, I began recording a short video to show how she was preventing me from leaving.
