Obi Mourns Victims of Katsina Mosque Massacre

Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has expressed deep sorrow over the massacre of more than 50 worshippers in a mosque in Katsina State.

In a message shared on his official X handle, Obi described the incident as both tragic and deeply troubling. He noted that the death toll has risen to over 50 as search efforts continue in the affected community.

Obi stressed that the killing of innocent worshippers goes beyond a mere attack but stands as a painful reminder of Nigeria’s worsening insecurity. He lamented that lives in the country are often reduced to statistics, urging leaders to recognize that behind every number lies a father, mother, or child whose life has been cut short, leaving families broken.

He emphasized that the dignity of human life must be treated as a sacred priority in the nation. According to him, unless Nigeria addresses the root causes of insecurity, the country will remain trapped in a cycle of needless bloodshed.

Obi extended his condolences to the grieving families, the people and government of Katsina State, and Nigerians at large who live under the daily fear of such tragedies.

He concluded with a call for courage and commitment to building a country where the security of lives and property is not a privilege but a guaranteed right of every citizen, affirming that “A New Nigeria is Possible.”
