Dangote Group Mourns Death of Phyna’s Sister

The Dangote Group has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Ruth Otabor, younger sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna, who passed away weeks after sustaining injuries in a road accident involving one of the company’s trucks near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State.

In an official statement released following the announcement of her death, the company said:

> “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Ruth Otabor, who was injured in the recent road incident involving one of our trucks in Auchi, Edo State.”

According to the conglomerate, Ruth and her family had received full support since the accident, with both the company’s officials and insurance partners covering her medical expenses and other financial needs.

Dangote Group further revealed that plans had already been finalized to transfer Ruth abroad for advanced medical treatment before her untimely death.

> “Since the accident, our officials and insurance partners have been by her side, covering all financial and medical costs while supporting her family. Arrangements had been made for her to be flown to India for advanced treatment, pending medical clearance from her doctors. Sadly, despite these efforts and Ruth’s brave fight, we lost her today,” the statement read.

The company also reaffirmed its commitment to prioritizing safety and accountability in its operations, while extending heartfelt condolences to the Otabor family.

> “At Dangote Group, safety, accountability, and compassion remain at the core of our operations. We are committed to strengthening our safety systems and standing by those affected in moments of tragedy. May God grant her mercy and eternal rest,” the statement concluded.

Ruth Otabor’s death had earlier been confirmed by Eko Solicitors & Advocates on behalf of the Otabor family.
