Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s media aide, Mr. Daniel Ezeigwe, has debunked the claims made by Senator Uche Ekwunife regarding the Governor’s wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Nonye Soludo.
In an official statement, Mr. Ezeigwe clarified that at no point in time did Dr. Nonye Soludo serve or play any role in the administration of former Anambra State Governor, the late Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju.
He stated:
> “To bring clarity and to ensure that unsuspecting members of the public, especially Ndi Anambra who hold the Soludo family in high regard, are not misled by falsehoods, it is important to establish that the wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Dr. (Mrs.) Frances Nonye Soludo, was never part of the Mbadinuju administration in any capacity.
> The widely circulated video clip in which Senator Uche Ekwunife alleged that the Governor’s wife was a member of Mbadinuju’s government is not only false but also mischievous and deliberately deceitful.
> At the time of Mbadinuju’s administration, Dr. Nonye Soludo was already a thriving entrepreneur at the University of Nigeria, where her husband, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, was a lecturer. Neither Prof. Soludo nor his wife had any involvement whatsoever in the affairs of that government.
> It is regrettable that Senator Ekwunife has resorted to lies, incitement, and character attacks, targeting a woman who is widely loved by Ndi Anambra for her humility, compassion, and commitment to women and children. Unlike Senator Ekwunife, the Governor’s wife has never allowed herself to be dragged into political pettiness or personal debasement.
> While Senator Ekwunife may find it convenient to drag the Governor’s wife into her misguided political outbursts, she must be reminded of the legal consequences of slander and defamatory remarks.
> We also challenge Senator Ekwunife to remain on the subject of public discourse by presenting verifiable proof that her academic degrees and PhD certificate are genuine, instead of attempting to deflect attention by fabricating stories about the Governor’s family.
> Ndi Anambra know and appreciate the Governor’s wife for the simplicity, compassion, and genuine love she demonstrates in her work with women and children. Her character and integrity remain unquestionable.”
Mr. Ezeigwe further urged Senator Ekwunife to refrain from dragging innocent personalities into her political squabbles and instead focus on explaining her own role in the “political disaster” that befell Anambra State between 1999 and 2003.
