President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sympathy to the families of victims and institutions affected by the fire incident that occurred on Tuesday at the Afriland Building on Broad Street, Lagos Island.
In a statement released on Thursday by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, the President commiserated with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, and Afriland Properties Limited over the tragic event. He extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the repose of the departed souls, asking God to grant their loved ones the strength to endure the painful loss.
The President also conveyed his good wishes to those injured in the incident, who are currently receiving medical treatment, expressing hope for their quick and complete recovery.
Tinubu praised the swift intervention of emergency responders, including the Federal Fire Service, medical teams, first aid providers, and members of the public, who worked diligently to control the situation and assist in the evacuation efforts.
He further emphasized the need for increased vigilance, regular training, and enhanced safety measures to prevent a recurrence of such devastating tragedies in the future.
