Tragedy has struck in Abuja as a veterinary doctor and former chairman of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), FCT Chapter, Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, was killed by suspected kidnappers who also abducted his three children.
The incident occurred on Friday night at his residence in the Kubwa district, located along the Kubwa–Kaduna road. Reports indicate that armed men invaded the doctor’s home, taking him and his three children away. His lifeless body was later discovered by the roadside.
Confirmation of Dr. Ogbu’s death came from Andrew Gabriel Ikechukwu, who shared the heartbreaking news on his Facebook page. He wrote:
> “Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, the immediate past chairman of the NVMA FCT chapter, who was kidnapped alongside his three children from his home in Kubwa Abuja, was found dead.
The three children are yet to be released. May God please intervene.”
Friends and colleagues have described the late Ogbu as a dedicated professional and a humble family man. He leaves behind a nursing wife and other grieving relatives.
Efforts are currently underway to locate and rescue his abducted children, as the family remains in deep distress.
Members of the veterinary community and residents of Abuja have expressed shock and sadness over the incident, calling it a devastating loss to both his family and the profession.
This tragic event comes barely a week after the death of Somtochukwu Maduagwu, a journalist with Arise TV, who was killed during a robbery in the Katampe area of Abuja.
