President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent engagements have highlighted his commitment to economic growth, infrastructure development, and national unity.
According to a statement issued by Presidential Spokesperson, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, on Monday in Abuja, the President arrived in Lagos on September 26 after attending the coronation ceremony of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, in Ibadan.
During his stay in Lagos, President Tinubu held strategic meetings with prominent investors, including Mr. Bayo Ogunlesi, Chief Executive Officer of Global Infrastructure Partners, and Mr. Hakeem Belo-Osagie, Chairman of Metis Capital Partners.
He also hosted the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), Mr. Arsenio Dominguez, in the company of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, and other maritime sector leaders. The discussions focused on strengthening Nigeria’s maritime capacity, with the President reiterating his administration’s commitment to developing the sector as a viable alternative to fossil fuel–based revenues.
In the buildup to Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary, President Tinubu visited Imo State, where he inaugurated several key projects completed by Governor Hope Uzodimma. He also unveiled a book authored by the governor, chronicling ten years of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in governance.
On Independence Day, the President delivered a national address from the historic State House, Dodan Barracks, in Lagos. Following the address, he inaugurated the newly renovated National Theatre, now renamed the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts, in recognition of the Nobel laureate’s contribution to Nigerian arts and culture.
Concluding his engagements, President Tinubu traveled to Jos, Plateau State, on Saturday to attend the burial ceremony of Mama Lydia Yilwatda, mother of the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda. At the event, he paid heartfelt tribute to the late matriarch and reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to promoting religious harmony and strengthening national unity across the country.
