ABUJA — For Nigerians looking to spend more time abroad without rushing through a holiday, some countries offer relatively generous visitor or tourist stay periods, depending on the traveller’s eligibility and the immigration rules in force.
While many destinations limit tourists to short stays, others allow eligible visitors to remain for several weeks or months. These options can be attractive to travellers interested in slow travel, cultural experiences and exploring multiple destinations within a country.
However, the length of stay granted is not uniform for all nationalities. Visa requirements, entry conditions and permitted duration can also change. Travellers are therefore advised to confirm the latest requirements with the relevant embassy, immigration authority or official government portal before making travel arrangements.
Below are seven countries known for offering relatively generous visitor stays to eligible international travellers.
1. Georgia
Georgia is one of the destinations known for having a generous visitor policy for citizens of eligible countries.
Visitors from a number of nationalities can enter the country without obtaining a visa in advance and may be permitted to stay for as long as one year, subject to the applicable entry rules.

However, Nigerians should confirm their specific eligibility before making travel plans, as Georgia’s visa-free arrangements do not apply to every nationality.
2. Malaysia
Malaysia is another destination that can appeal to travellers seeking a relatively long tourist stay in Southeast Asia.
Eligible visitors may be granted permission to remain in the country for up to 90 days, depending on their nationality and the immigration conditions applicable to them.
The country offers a combination of modern cities, tropical islands, cultural attractions and diverse culinary experiences.
Travellers can spend time exploring Kuala Lumpur, visit the historic streets of George Town in Penang, relax in Langkawi or travel to parts of Malaysian Borneo.
For Nigerians, however, the applicable visa requirements should be checked before departure, as the 90-day stay does not automatically apply to every passport holder.
3. Ecuador
Ecuador provides another option for travellers interested in an extended holiday.
Eligible visitors from many countries can enter Ecuador without a visa for an initial stay of up to 90 days, subject to the country’s immigration requirements. Depending on the applicable rules, some visitors may also be able to extend their stay.

Citizens of certain countries may be admitted for periods of up to 180 days, although the exact duration depends on nationality and the immigration decision applicable to the traveller.

6. Seychelles
Seychelles is another destination with a relatively open entry system for international visitors.
The island nation generally does not require visitors to obtain a traditional tourist visa before travelling. Eligible visitors can initially be granted permission to stay for up to three months, provided they satisfy the country’s entry requirements.
Travellers may use the period to explore some of the country’s many islands, including Mahé, Praslin and La Digue.
Seychelles is known for its beaches, forests, mountains and marine attractions, making it suitable for visitors interested in both relaxation and outdoor activities.
Despite its relatively open visitor policy, travellers must still meet the country’s entry conditions, including any applicable requirements relating to accommodation, funds, return or onward travel and other immigration conditions.

Visitors can explore Tirana, travel to the historic city of Berat, visit archaeological attractions or spend time along the Albanian Riviera.
The 90-day visitor period can provide enough time for travellers to experience the country at a slower pace rather than moving quickly between destinations.
However, the applicable entry rules depend on the traveller’s nationality and circumstances. Nigerian passport holders should confirm Albania’s current visa requirements before planning a trip.
Important Note for Nigerian Travellers
A country offering a long visitor stay to citizens of certain nationalities does not necessarily mean Nigerian passport holders automatically qualify for the same treatment.
