Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission Begins Price Control Across Nigeria, Officials Seals 4U Supermarket In Abuja For Charging Nigerians High Prices

In Abuja, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) recently took action against 4U Supermarket by sealing its premises due to reported unfair practices by its management.

This enforcement occurred as part of a broader initiative aimed at ensuring price transparency and quantity accuracy in retail establishments across the nation’s capital.

The FCCPC’s officials conducted an extensive enforcement exercise, targeting several supermarkets in Abuja to address consumer complaints regarding escalating prices, despite the recent appreciation of the naira against major currencies.

The Commission emphasized the persistent problem of price disparities, indicating a need for stricter enforcement measures to safeguard consumer interests.
