Na Lie, Presidency Denies Reports Of N105,000 Minimum Wage

The Presidency has denied circulating reports that claim the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and the Federal Government’s negotiating team have proposed a new minimum wage of N105,000.

Following a nationwide strike declared by organized labour, the Federal Government engaged in negotiations with union leaders and reached an agreement.

Subsequently, the negotiating team briefed President Bola Tinubu, who instructed the Finance Minister to present a new minimum wage proposal within 48 hours.

On Thursday, Onanuga and his team met with the President, but the outcome of the meeting was not disclosed.

Despite this, reports emerged suggesting that Edun’s team had proposed a new minimum wage of N105,000.

In response, Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Strategy, refuted these claims.

Onanuga clarified on Twitter, saying, “The Honorable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has not proposed a N105,000 minimum wage. The contrary story being disseminated is false.”
