JUST IN: Kano State Governor Postpones School Resumption Date

The Kano State Government has postponed the resumption date for primary and secondary schools for the 2024/2025 academic session. Previously, the government had set September 9, 2024, as the resumption date for the new academic term.

However, in a fresh statement released on Saturday, the Director of Public Enlightenment of the Ministry of Education, Balarabe Kiru, conveyed the update from the Commissioner of Education, Umar Doguwa. In the statement, Doguwa explained that the decision to delay the reopening of schools was due to urgent matters, though he declined to provide specific details about the reasons behind the postponement.

Doguwa assured the public that the Ministry of Education would announce a new resumption date shortly. He emphasized that the delay was necessary to address critical issues that would create a more conducive learning environment for students.

The statement urged students, pupils, parents, and guardians to be patient and understanding, acknowledging that the change in plans might cause some inconvenience. The ministry apologized for any disruption this decision may have caused and promised that the new date would be communicated soon.
