The Chairman of Stelconic Properties Limited, Chief Chukwuemeka Nkem Pat Orjiakor, has praised the resilience and dedication of workers in Anambra State, describing them as the indispensable backbone of the society. He made this commendation while addressing journalists in Awka on Thursday, as part of the celebrations marking International Workers’ Day.
Chief Orjiakor emphasized that the growth and functionality of Anambra State rest heavily on the shoulders of its workers, who, according to him, have continually shown unmatched commitment, passion, and a sense of duty. He acknowledged the countless sacrifices made daily by workers—many of whom risk their comfort and even their lives to ensure the smooth running of institutions, services, and the economy at large.
“I want to take this moment to extend my heartfelt wishes to every worker in Anambra State on this special occasion of International Workers’ Day,” he said. “You all truly deserve this global recognition. It is your tireless efforts, unwavering integrity, and dedication to purpose that keep our society moving forward.”
Chief Orjiakor further commended the workforce for choosing honesty, diligence, and responsibility in their various roles, noting that these virtues are the silent engines powering the progress of the state.
He also used the opportunity to call on the government to do more in terms of improving workers’ welfare. While he acknowledged that the leadership in Anambra is making efforts, he stressed the need for greater investment in policies and programmes that uplift the standard of living for workers.
“I know that our leaders are trying, but more must be done. Our workers deserve better pay, improved working conditions, and access to quality healthcare and retirement benefits,” he stated.
In his concluding remarks, Chief Orjiakor encouraged workers across all sectors to remain steadfast and continue giving their best, emphasizing that their contributions are essential for the survival and advancement of society.
“Keep working, keep striving in whatever field you find yourselves. The world needs you. Your efforts are not in vain, and your value cannot be overstated,” he concluded.
