The Lagos State Government has officially sealed DONALD Restaurant, a popular nightlife spot owned by renowned entrepreneur Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, following serious environmental infractions.
The restaurant, located along Road 14 in Lekki Phase 1, was shut down after two of its staff were caught illegally dumping refuse by the roadside. The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), Muyiwa Gbadegesin, made this known through a statement shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.
According to Gbadegesin, the incident came to light after the Chairman of the Lekki Estate Residents Association (LERA) reported the illegal activity to LAWMA in the early hours of Saturday, May 18, 2025. The tip-off revealed that a white Ford van bearing Abuja registration number GWA 136E was spotted indiscriminately discharging waste along Durosimi-Etti Street in Lekki Phase 1.
The offending vehicle was subsequently traced back to DONALD Restaurant. The two individuals involved were apprehended on the spot by LERA’s Chief Security Officer and taken into custody at the LERA Secretariat. It was further reported that the suspects attempted to bribe the security personnel with ₦100,000, a gesture that was outrightly rejected.
LAWMA’s Monitoring and Compliance Team promptly arrived at the scene to take over the matter. The team took custody of the suspects and proceeded to seal off the restaurant premises for gross violations of the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law, 2017.
Gbadegesin confirmed that the individuals involved would face legal prosecution in accordance with the state’s environmental regulations.
