Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has shared his reaction following Tottenham Hotspur’s historic 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League final

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has shared his reaction following Tottenham Hotspur’s historic 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League final held Thursday night in Bilbao.

Spurs went into the final with a psychological edge, having already beaten Manchester United three times during the season. They cemented their dominance with a hard-fought fourth win, thanks to a decisive goal from Brennan Johnson in what was otherwise a scrappy encounter. The win not only handed Tottenham their first major trophy in 17 years but also earned them a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou was visibly emotional after the final whistle. Known for claiming silverware in his second season with clubs, Postecoglou achieved that feat in his 100th match at the helm of the North London side.

Following the match, Mohamed Salah, who scored against Spurs in the 2019 Champions League final, took to X (formerly Twitter) to commend the club and subtly reference Postecoglou’s earlier prediction.

“He did say he’d win in his second season. Congratulations!” Salah wrote, acknowledging the Australian manager’s confidence and achievement.

Salah’s post drew significant attention from Liverpool fans, many of whom joined in the celebration and banter. Fellow Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher also chimed in, mocking United by flipping a well-known quote from legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who once said, “Lads, it’s Tottenham.” Carragher reversed it for comic effect, writing: “Lads, it’s Man United!” on X.
