Enugu Community Erupts in Rage as Native Doctor’s Shrine Allegedly Revealed as Kidnapping Den

The peaceful Umumba Ndiagu community in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State was thrown into chaos and sorrow on Tuesday, following shocking revelations that a prominent native doctor, popularly known as Ichie Millions or Ezeani, had allegedly been using his expansive compound as a base for heinous criminal activities including kidnapping, ritual killings, and human burial.

According to outraged residents, the alarm was raised after Ezeani was reportedly caught in the act of attempting to abduct a 13-year-old girl from the community. This incident prompted a group of determined youths to storm his compound in a quest for answers — what they uncovered left the entire community reeling in horror.

Within the compound, multiple soakaway pits allegedly filled with decomposing human bodies were discovered. Eyewitnesses described the grisly scenes in viral videos, some of which showed community youths searching the premises and setting fire to buildings, including Ezeani’s shrine. The victims allegedly included pregnant women and children, many of whom were believed to have been buried alive for ritual purposes.

The 13-year-old girl who was rescued from one of the pits recounted her terrifying experience in a circulating video:

> “My father and I went to fetch firewood for frying garri. His men approached us and asked my father for his cutlass. As soon as he gave it to them, they grabbed me and threw me into a pit. I cried out for help until the Neighbourhood Watch operatives heard me and came to rescue me.”

Further footage showed community members apprehending a man who claimed to be a security guard at the compound. He was seen tied up and stripped, confessing that he frequented the compound for ritual sacrifices but denied direct involvement in the killings.

> “I’m a businessman,” he explained. “I came here for sacrifices. After the land ritual, they said a water sacrifice was next. I was told to guard the house and keep strangers away. I don’t know what they used for the rituals.”

Despite the outrage, the prime suspect, Ezeani — whose real name has been revealed as Levi Onyeka Obu, also nicknamed “E-Dey-Play-E-Dey-Show” — managed to flee the scene. However, three of his alleged accomplices — Uche Kingsley Agumba (33), Ilo Nweze Onyedikachi (36), and Ejike Odinwankpa (38) — were arrested during the rescue operation.

In a statement, the Enugu State Police Command confirmed the horrific discovery. According to spokesperson SP Daniel Ndukwe, officers from the Umumba Division, working with Neighborhood Watch personnel and vigilant locals, rescued the girl at around 3:15 a.m. on May 27, 2025, and uncovered two decomposing bodies sealed in a concrete pit inside an uncompleted building used as a shrine.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, visited the scene and ordered a state-wide manhunt for the fleeing suspect and his remaining accomplices. He also commended the collaborative efforts of security personnel and the community in exposing the criminal acts.

In response to the atrocities, the Enugu State Government has since demolished all buildings on the property, vowing to bring justice to the victims and restore peace to the traumatized community.

Investigations are ongoing as security agencies intensify efforts to track down Ezeani and uncover the full extent of the ritual network allegedly operating from the compound.
