Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has firmly debunked circulating rumours suggesting he may be planning to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Speaking on Monday during the official flag-off ceremony for the dualisation of the 3.5-kilometre Ila township road in Ila-Orangun, Adeleke assured citizens of his unwavering loyalty to the PDP and his dedication to serving the people of Osun State.
Addressing attendees at the event, the Governor said:
“I am glad that we are here today to flag off the dualisation of the Ila township road project despite the lingering uncertainties in the nation. I have vowed to my God and the good people of the State that I am committed to serving them, and I will never be distracted from my vow to serve the people of the State.”
Governor Adeleke also highlighted his administration’s developmental strides, stating that over 175 kilometres of road have been reconstructed, rehabilitated, and renovated under his watch. He added that multiple dualisation and flyover projects are currently underway at various completion stages across the state.
Later in Ikirun, where he flagged off another phase of the Ikirun-Ila-Odo express road dualisation, Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to completing the 39-kilometre Osogbo-Ikirun-Inisha-Okuku-Ijabe-Ila Odo road project, which connects to Kwara State.
He declared:
“The completion of the dualisation of the Osogbo to Ila Odo road is of paramount importance to this administration. By God’s grace, we are committed to delivering this project within 12 months, a similar length of road that previously took 12 years to complete.”
The Governor described the infrastructural progress as a testament to divine purpose and the state’s evolving development, stating that their presence at the event marked a significant chapter in Osun’s growth.

APC’s Oyebamiji Urges Calm, Rejects Rumoured Adeleke Defection
Meanwhile, Bola Oyebamiji, Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and a governorship hopeful under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged party supporters not to panic over speculations that Governor Adeleke may be considering a move to the APC.
While addressing party faithful during a visit to the Ijesa-North Federal Constituency, Oyebamiji assured them that the party leadership was fully in control of the situation.
“Though our leader, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, will personally address the defection rumour, he has asked me to assure you there is no cause for alarm. Our leaders are in charge, and no one will reap the fruit of your labour,” Oyebamiji said.
He also reaffirmed Oyetola’s commitment to resolving the ongoing crisis in the state’s local government administration, assuring supporters that APC-elected chairmen and councillors would continue to hold their positions until the party regains power in 2026.

Senator Omoworare Claims APC Lost 2022 Election to Internal Crisis
In a related development, Senator Babajide Omoworare, a former senator who represented Osun-East and former presidential aide, has declared that the APC’s defeat in the 2022 gubernatorial election was not due to Governor Adeleke’s strength or popularity, but rather internal divisions within the party.
During his announcement at the APC state secretariat in Osogbo where he officially declared his intention to seek the party’s governorship ticket, Omoworare emphasized the need to unite the APC to reclaim the state.
“Adeleke and the PDP did not win the 2022 election; it was the APC that lost due to internal discord,” he asserted. “We will not make that mistake again.”
Omoworare, who has contested and won five previous elections, presented himself as the candidate with the experience and resilience needed to lead the APC back to power.
“This is not just a declaration—it’s a notification. And I’m doing it here at the party secretariat because this is where my journey must begin,” he concluded.
