Lauretta Onochie, former Special Assistant on Digital and Social Media to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has written a heartfelt open letter to her late former boss, expressing deep concern over what she perceives as the moral and structural collapse of the All Progressives Congress (APC) since Buhari’s departure from office.
In a strongly worded post shared on her verified Facebook page on Thursday, Onochie — who also previously served as Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Board — accused the ruling party of abandoning the core values Buhari stood for, including fairness, equity, justice, and accountability.
“Dear Baba, APC is now a private enterprise. It has lost all the values you championed — fairness, equity, justice, equality — all gone,” she wrote, using the colloquial term kpaied to suggest that those ideals have been discarded or destroyed.
Onochie painted a grim picture of the party’s internal culture, alleging a growing tolerance for impunity and even rewarding of misconduct.
“APC chieftains assault airport staff, hijack planes, and are then rewarded with ambassadorial appointments. Wrongdoings are now dressed up with roses and perfume — unless, of course, you belong to the opposition,” she lamented.
Despite her criticisms, Onochie reaffirmed her loyalty to the principles Buhari promoted, assuring that his true supporters would continue to uphold them.
“Sorry Baba, there’s no more APC. Thank you for showing us that righteousness is possible among Nigerians and in Nigeria. God bless your soul,” she concluded.
