Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has declared that his administration and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will overcome the political “pharaoh” confronting the state and reclaim what rightfully belongs to the people.
The Governor, who recently returned from a short vacation in the United States—where he also attended the wedding of his nephew, music star Davido, in Miami—was warmly received at the PDP Secretariat in Osogbo on Thursday by party leaders and supporters.
Speaking at the event, Adeleke noted that his administration had changed the narrative of Osun from a state once trapped in “pity” to one now thriving with confidence and hope. He stressed that his government’s achievements in key sectors have laid a strong foundation for prosperity that must not be reversed.
“I am back to continue the good work after a short vacation. From 2022 to date, we have moved Osun State from pity to confidence, from poverty to prosperity, from hopelessness to hope. Today, we have a promising present and a prosperous future,” Adeleke said.
The Governor urged party members and residents to participate actively in the ongoing continuous voter registration (CVR) exercise ahead of the next election cycle. According to him, the PDP must remain vigilant and mobilize widely to retain power in 2026.
“Start mobilisation again. Get your voter cards updated. Mobilise your people for the exercise. Talk to your neighbours, families and friends. Show them our good work across sectors. Osun shall never go back to the past. We are light, and we shall always overcome darkness,” he added.
In his remarks, Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Adewale Egbedun, encouraged party faithful not to be discouraged by the defection of some members, stressing that the PDP’s true strength lies in the masses who have directly experienced the developmental impact of Adeleke’s administration.
“We are solidly behind Adeleke in Osun Central. When the battle gets tough, the victory gets sweeter. In 2022, we had no senator. Today, we are the party to beat,” Egbedun affirmed.
Also addressing the gathering, the State PDP Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, reiterated the importance of grassroots mobilisation during the voter registration process. He maintained that those fielded by the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) lack the credibility to challenge Adeleke at the polls.
“Our focus is to make the victory sweeter in 2026. We must mobilise massively, because the APC candidates contesting against our governor are not electable,” he said.
