The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, has firmly asserted that APGA remains the only genuine political party with a formidable presence in Anambra State. According to him, opposition parties such as the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the All Progressives Congress (APC), and others exist merely on paper without any real structures, followership, or electoral capacity in the state.
Speaking as a guest on TVC News’ Politics Tonight, Barr. Ezeokenwa emphasized that APGA is not just a political party but a grassroots movement deeply rooted in the lives and aspirations of Ndi Anambra. He maintained that no other political organization has succeeded in building meaningful influence or relevance within the state.
He pointed to the outcome of the most recent by-elections in Anambra as clear evidence of this reality, noting that opposition candidates performed abysmally at the polls.
“In Anambra, there is no political party engaged in any genuine political struggle outside APGA. Take the ADC, for instance their candidate is virtually unknown to Ndi Anambra. In fact, the first time many people even heard his name was shortly before the election. That party, just like others, exists only in theory and not on the ground. The election results confirmed this beyond doubt. In the Anambra South Senatorial election, for example, the ADC candidate scored less than 2% of total votes and failed to gain any significant support even from his own local government area or immediate community. That speaks volumes about the so-called structure they claim to have,” Barr. Ezeokenwa explained.
The APGA Chairman further highlighted that the people of Anambra have consistently shown unwavering confidence in APGA, a party that has over the years entrenched itself as the dominant political force in the state. He stressed that the trust reposed in the party is not accidental but a result of its consistent track record of electoral victories and the people-oriented leadership of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR.
According to him, Governor Soludo’s ongoing reforms and development initiatives have further strengthened the bond between APGA and Ndi Anambra, ensuring that the party remains synonymous with purposeful governance and grassroots service delivery.
Barr. Ezeokenwa concluded by reaffirming APGA’s commitment to defending democracy, deepening good governance, and safeguarding the interests of Ndi Anambra. He assured that the party would continue to uphold its founding principles while ensuring that the people of Anambra remain at the center of every decision and policy initiative.
