The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 28 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The arrests, which took place on Tuesday, followed credible intelligence reports linking the suspects to various cybercrime activities across the metropolis.
According to reports, the suspects were arrested during coordinated sting operations at different locations, including Tanke, University Road, Oshin, and Agbabiaka areas of Ilorin.
During the operation, operatives of the EFCC recovered seven luxury vehicles—among them a latest-model Toyota Corolla and a Lexus—alongside two motorcycles, high-end mobile phones, and laptop computers. These items are believed to have been used by the suspects in perpetrating their alleged fraudulent activities.
An EFCC officer who confirmed the incident, but asked not to be named, stated that investigations are ongoing. He added that the suspects would be charged to court as soon as the process is concluded.
