The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, has declared absolute confidence in Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s re-election bid, insisting that the upcoming 2025 governorship election in Anambra State will be a landslide victory for APGA.
Speaking during an interview on Arise TV’s Morning Show, closely monitored by Newday Reporters, Barrister Ezeokenwa boldly asserted that Anambra remains “APGA land,” citing the consistent performance and people-oriented leadership of successive APGA administrations as the reason for the party’s enduring popularity.
“There are clear reasons why we are very confident about our victory in the coming election. Anambra is APGA land. From the days of Mr. Peter Obi, through Chief Willie Obiano, and now Professor Chukwuma Soludo, our people have seen steady progress and development. Ndi Anambra have come to trust APGA because we have continuously delivered on our promises,” Ezeokenwa stated.
He described APGA’s greatest strength as its credibility and track record of visible achievements under its elected leaders, particularly the current Governor, Prof. Soludo, whose governance approach, he said, has transformed Anambra in record time.
“At a time when Nigeria faces enormous challenges, Anambra is blessed to have Professor Soludo at the helm. His performance in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and security has been exceptional. From the introduction of free maternal and antenatal care to the establishment of new general hospitals, the free education policy, and the restoration of peace across the state, these are tangible results. Ndi Anambra are truly happy and proud of his leadership,” the APGA National Chairman said.
Ezeokenwa noted that what stands out most in this election season is the organic, community-driven mobilization for Soludo’s re-election, a movement he described as unprecedented in Nigeria’s political history.
“For the first time ever, we are witnessing a situation where citizens are taking ownership of a political campaign. Communities are saying, ‘Because you have performed, we don’t need your money, we will fund and drive your campaign ourselves.’ That level of trust and enthusiasm is proof of how deeply APGA and Soludo have connected with the people,” he added.
Citing the outcome of the last Anambra State House of Assembly elections, where APGA won in nearly all constituencies, Ezeokenwa emphasized that the results reflected the overwhelming approval of Soludo’s leadership.
“In the last House of Assembly election, APGA secured over 99% victory in polling units where elections were held. That wasn’t luck, it was a reward for performance. Ndi Anambra have seen the results, and they will reward Soludo again at the polls,” he noted confidently.
Addressing opposition criticism regarding insecurity in parts of the state, the APGA Chairman dismissed such allegations as baseless and politically motivated.
“It is misleading for anyone to claim insecurity still thrives in Anambra. The reality speaks differently. Governor Soludo, through the Homeland Security Law signed earlier this year, has significantly reduced crime and restored peace across all local governments. Before 2021, no candidate could campaign freely in the southern part of the state. Today, everyone moves and campaigns freely, that’s progress you cannot ignore,” Ezeokenwa explained.
Responding to references about a candidate allegedly kidnapped during the 2021 governorship election, Ezeokenwa clarified that the incident occurred before Soludo assumed office and therefore should not be linked to his administration.
“With due respect, it’s unfair to hold the current Governor responsible for an incident that predates his tenure. What Soludo did was to reclaim areas previously overrun by criminal elements, and today, those communities have been restored to peace. That’s the mark of true leadership,” he stressed.
Barrister Ezeokenwa concluded by reaffirming APGA’s preparedness for the election and the party’s unwavering faith in the people of Anambra State to sustain the progress already achieved under APGA leadership.
“Anambra remains APGA land. Ndi Anambra know where the light shines, and they will continue to stand with APGA and Governor Soludo. We are confident, not just because of our record, but because the people have seen genuine transformation. Soludo has redefined governance, and by noon on election day, his victory will already be sealed,” he declared.
