The Federal High Court in Abuja has affirmed Chief Kenneth Udeze as the duly recognized National Chairman of the Action Alliance (AA).
In a judgment delivered by Justice Obiora Egwuatu on Thursday, the court dismissed a suit filed by an aggrieved party member, Adekunle Rufai Omoaje, who had challenged Udeze’s leadership of the party.
Omoaje, in the suit marked FHC/CS/12/2024, had asked the court to validate a separate national convention purportedly held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, where another set of national executives was reportedly elected to lead the AA.
However, Justice Egwuatu upheld the arguments of Udeze’s counsel, Mr. Ezenwa Ibegbunam, who questioned the competence of the suit. Citing several decided cases, the judge ruled that the case lacked merit and consequently dismissed it.
Reacting to the ruling, Chief Udeze hailed the judgment as a landmark decision that brings an end to the party’s long-standing leadership dispute. He described it as a victory for justice and the rule of law, emphasizing that it puts to rest all “illegal and fictitious claims” to the party’s leadership.
The AA Chairman also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its adherence to due process and respect for the rule of law in its handling of the party’s internal matters.
