Terrorists Kill Customs Officer, Set NCS Camp Ablaze in Kebbi

Armed terrorists suspected to be members of the Lakurawa group have reportedly attacked a Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) camp in Maje, Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State, killing one Customs officer and setting the facility on fire.

The incident occurred late Saturday when the assailants stormed the camp, shooting indiscriminately. According to eyewitnesses, the attackers arrived in large numbers, forcing residents and officers to flee for safety as the building went up in flames.

A resident recounted, “The terrorists came in numbers and started shooting sporadically. Everyone ran for safety.”

Confirming the attack, the Public Relations Officer of the NCS Kebbi Command, Muhammad Tajudeen, stated, “We are at the hospital waiting for the doctor’s report to confirm the officer’s condition. An official update will follow.”

The assault comes just days after the same group allegedly abducted the Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hon. Muhammad Sama’ila Bagudo, during an earlier attack in the area. He was released after spending a week in captivity.

The latest attack underscores the worsening security situation in Kebbi State, where communities and security agencies continue to face escalating threats from armed bandits and terrorist groups.
