BREAKING: Peter Obi Dumps Labour Party, Officially Joins ADC

Former Anambra State Governor and the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, has officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a coalition-backed political platform, Newday Reporters can confirm.

Obi announced his defection on Wednesday, December 31, during a political gathering in Enugu, as observed by Newday Reporters. His move comes ahead of the 2027 general elections and signals a major realignment in Nigeria’s political landscape.

Speaking at the event, the former governor said his decision to join the ADC was driven by a commitment to transforming and rescuing Nigeria from its current challenges. He expressed optimism about the future, noting that while the year is ending, a new phase of national rebirth is on the horizon.

“We are ending this year with hope, believing that in 2026, we will begin a genuine rescue journey for our country,” Obi stated.

He further assured his supporters that the coalition remains resolute in defending the democratic process, pledging to resist any form of electoral malpractice in the 2027 elections through all lawful means.

The defection has sparked widespread reactions across the political space, as stakeholders assess its implications for the forthcoming general elections.
