FG Proposes N500m for Skills Training, Equipment Supply, Anti-Drug Campaigns in 2026 Budget

Abuja — The Federal Ministry of Works has proposed to spend over ₦500 million on skills training, empowerment programmes, equipment supply, and anti-drug abuse sensitisation across selected states of the federation in the 2026 fiscal year.
Details of the proposed expenditure are contained in the 2026 Appropriation Bill uploaded on the Budget Office website and accessed on Wednesday.
An analysis of the budget shows that the projects are spread across different geopolitical zones, with several allocations tied to constituency-based interventions.
Under budget item ERGP 12234747, the ministry plans to spend ₦35 million on the supply of grinding machines to women in Ndokwa/Ukwani Federal Constituency in the South-South zone. The number of machines to be supplied was not specified in the document.
In a similar allocation, ₦35 million has been proposed for the training and empowerment of women in hairdressing, makeup, and soap production in Mikang, Shandam, and Quampan Federal Constituency of Plateau State in the North-Central region.
The budget also provides for ₦70 million to be spent on the training and empowerment of youths and seven retirees in various skills, alongside the provision of trade equipment in Inyamaltu/Deba, Gombe State, in the North-East.
Another ₦70 million allocation is earmarked for the supply of mini pick-up vans, mini shuttle buses, and motorcycles to beneficiaries in Abakaliki Federal Constituency, Ebonyi State, located in the South-East.
Additionally, the ministry proposed funding for the training, sensitisation, advocacy, and empowerment of North-Central youths against drug abuse, to be implemented in Zamfara State, which is geographically situated in the North-West.
The document contains several similar empowerment and intervention projects distributed across different constituencies nationwide, raising renewed attention on constituency-linked spending within the 2026 federal budget framework.
