His intellectual superiority was so outstanding that even outside the classroom he excelled. During a highly competitive Intercontinental Bank recruitment screening, which attracted over a thousand candidates nationwide, Amb. Ikebunwa emerged overall best, topping the examination.

Amb. Ikebunwa pursued his first degree, a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, one of the most rigorous disciplines in higher education. Despite his deep involvement in student leadership and activism, he never compromised academic excellence.
He graduated with such an impressive result that today he lectures in the same department, shaping young engineers and impacting future innovators.
