Yunusa Tanko, National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, has called on supporters in Akwa Ibom State to organize and direct their efforts toward the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the party as the platform to secure victory in the 2027 general elections.
Tanko made the appeal in a statement issued in Uyo during ongoing mobilization activities in the state. He stressed the importance of building strong grassroots structures and ensuring that the challenges and alleged irregularities witnessed during the 2023 elections are not repeated.
He warned that electoral processes must reflect the true will of the people, emphasizing that votes must be properly counted and protected.
Addressing supporters, Tanko encouraged members of the Obidient Movement to evolve from enthusiasm to coordinated political action.
“My dear brothers and sisters of the Obidient Movement in Akwa Ibom State, I bring you warm greetings and unwavering hope,” he said. “From the creeks to the cities, from every village square to every university campus, from every market and professional circle, the time has come to rise in your numbers. The time has come to move from passion to structure, from structure to strategy, and from strategy to victory.”
He described the movement as part of a broader mission to build a new Nigeria founded on discipline, competence, compassion, and accountability. According to him, the goal is to restore integrity in leadership and empower citizens.
Tanko urged coordinators, volunteers, youth leaders, women, and community stakeholders to strengthen political structures at the ward and polling unit levels, encourage voter registration, and ensure that votes are defended.
“As we consolidate our political strength, we must strategically channel our collective energy into the African Democratic Congress as our vehicle for transformation and victory in 2027,” he stated. “This is not just a political alignment, but a deliberate effort to win power and serve the Nigerian people.”
He also called for unity among supporters, urging them not to remain passive.
“Let no one sit on the sidelines. Let no one believe their voice does not matter. When we move together, we are unstoppable. When we organize, we win. When we vote, we transform nations,” he added.
Tanko concluded by expressing confidence in the leadership of former presidential candidate Peter Obi, stating that his qualities position him to lead the country effectively.
He said the movement remains committed to ensuring Obi emerges as President, describing him as a leader with the energy, integrity, and capacity to drive national transformation.
Tanko urged supporters to remain committed and active, reiterating the movement’s belief that a new Nigeria can be achieved through collective action and effective political participation.
