Former senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu North Senatorial District, Ejike Eze, has commended the party for successfully conducting peaceful and well-organised congresses across the 17 local government areas of Enugu State.
Eze, a retired diplomat and former Senior Special Assistant on Protocols and Security to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, said the smooth and rancour-free exercise reflects the increasing unity, political maturity, and internal stability of the APC in the state.
He noted that the orderly conduct of the congresses demonstrates the party’s commitment to consensus building and democratic principles, adding that such cohesion would play a crucial role in strengthening the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, the outcome of the congresses shows that party members are willing to work together for a common goal.
“This is a clear example of consensus in practice. I commend all stakeholders who contributed to the success of the process. I also congratulate the newly elected local government executives, from the chairmen to other officers. Their emergence shows the confidence party members have in their ability to lead,” he said.
Eze advised the newly elected leaders to immediately begin active grassroots mobilisation, stressing that consistent engagement with members at the ward and local government levels would be key to increasing the party’s support base.
He also urged party members to unite and support the new executives, emphasizing that unity would be essential for the party to achieve its electoral ambitions.
Speaking on the party’s prospects, Eze pointed to the APC’s recent performance in the Abuja Area Council election as a sign of its growing acceptance among Nigerians. He expressed optimism that the party would record similar success in Enugu State and across the country in 2027.
He further expressed confidence that the South East would back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, noting that policies under the Renewed Hope Agenda have brought development to the region.
Eze also praised the political leadership in Enugu State, particularly Governor Peter Mbah, for what he described as efforts that have reshaped the political landscape and strengthened the party’s structure, positioning it to compete effectively with rival parties.
