NGF Condemns Maiduguri Suicide Bombings, Urges Stronger Security Response

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum has strongly condemned the series of suicide bombings that struck Maiduguri on Monday night, describing the attacks as both shocking and deeply reprehensible.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Forum’s Chairman and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, denounced the incident as a cruel and senseless act that resulted in the tragic loss of innocent lives.
The governors labelled the attacks as evil and entirely unacceptable, stressing that such acts of violence represent a grave threat to national peace and security. They called on security agencies to intensify efforts aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and preventing further attacks.
According to the statement, the Forum extended its heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Borno State, acknowledging the pain and devastation caused by the incident.
“Our thoughts and sympathies are with the people and government of Borno State during this difficult time,” the statement read.
The Forum also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to combat terrorism across the country. It pledged continued collaboration to ensure that insurgents are decisively defeated and that peace is restored in all affected regions.
The NGF emphasized the need for a united front in tackling insecurity, noting that sustained cooperation between federal and state authorities remains critical to overcoming the threat of terrorism nationwide.
